Sector Sports Clubs & Gyms

Connectivity across your entire sports facility.

How we work here

Technology at the service of your operations

A club or a gym is not an office: it is a site with reception, studios, changing rooms, courts, a pool, a bar and a car park, where the booking system, the card terminals, the turnstiles, the cameras, member Wi-Fi and staff computers all coexist. We design the connectivity and the network for the whole facility, separate what needs separating, protect the management systems and maintain the lot through a single point of contact.

Common challenges

  • Patchy Wi-Fi coverage on courts, in sports halls and across outdoor areas
  • Reception, card payments, bookings and access control all riding on one line
  • Cameras, turnstiles, management systems and members sharing the same network
  • A network outage that hits staff, members and revenue at the same time

Our response

Four areas we address in this sector

Internet where you actually need it

Connectivity cannot be designed for reception alone. We survey the whole site — offices, studios, sports hall, courts, pool, bar, storage and car park — and choose the technology available at that address: FTTH, dedicated fibre, a radio link or Starlink, with a secondary link and automatic failover where the contracted service provides it.

A separate network for each purpose

A member's phone should not have the same access as the admin workstation. We separate the corporate network, member and guest Wi-Fi, the camera network and connected devices, with bandwidth control, client isolation and centralised management of every access point and switch.

We protect users, systems and data

A sports centre holds member records, subscriptions, invoicing, email and access rights. We combine endpoint protection, a managed firewall, multi-factor authentication, email filtering, access control, monitoring and backups ready to restore. No measure removes risk entirely; the goal is to reduce it and be able to resume operations.

One team for all the technology on site

Reception and office workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, access points, printing, Microsoft 365, users, VPN and cloud under one contract and one accountable team. A club manager should not have to call five suppliers when something stops working.

Connectivity

Professional Wi-Fi from reception to the far court

A domestic router at reception will not cover a sports complex. A professional network starts from a coverage survey on the plan and on site, defines how many access points are needed and where, lets users move without dropping the connection, and is managed centrally with visibility of what is happening in each area.

  • Coverage and user-density survey for each area
  • Managed access points with centralised configuration and updates
  • Member network separated from corporate, with bandwidth control
  • Network monitoring that shows which area is failing and why

Coverage

The courts are part of your network too

A sports hall, a glass-walled padel court, an outdoor pitch, a pool or full spectator stands each pose different problems: distance, steel structures, glass, humidity, weather, interference and hundreds of phones connecting at once during a tournament. That is why the network is designed after walking the site, not from a catalogue.

  • Hardware rated for outdoor use, humidity and demanding environments
  • Sizing based on real user density, not just floor area
  • Cabling, fibre or a wireless link between buildings depending on distance
  • Coverage testing on court before the installation is signed off

Remote areas

When the court is far from reception

Outdoor courts, annexes, pitches and standalone buildings usually fall outside the original cabling. Depending on distance, line of sight and what groundwork is possible, we use fibre between buildings, a point-to-point wireless link or a dedicated connection. Each space is assessed on its own: no single technology always fits.

  • Fibre between buildings where groundwork allows it
  • Point-to-point link where there is clear line of sight
  • A dedicated connection for distant annexes
  • That area joins the same network under the same policies

Continuity

Bookings, access and payments should not rely on one line

If the line drops, bookings, card terminals, turnstiles, cameras, email and telephony can go down together — usually at the busiest hour of the evening. A primary line can be paired with a secondary link on a different route, radio or Starlink, plus automatic failover. No architecture guarantees absolute availability: the aim is that one fault does not stop everything.

  • Primary line sized for staff, members and systems
  • Secondary link independent of the main route
  • Automatic failover where the contracted service includes it
  • Traffic priority for payments, bookings and access control

Digital experience

Technology is part of the member experience

Members never see the firewall, but they do notice Wi-Fi that will not hold on the court, a booking that fails to confirm, a turnstile that will not open or a card terminal that times out. Looking after the infrastructure means looking after how the club is perceived — and keeping queues out of reception.

  • Simple, stable member network access across the whole site
  • Booking and access systems on prioritised connections
  • Issues spotted and handled before they pile up at reception
  • Support that works with the reception team who field the complaints

Reception

Reception holds more technology than it looks

Within a few square metres sit computers, the phone, card terminals, a printer, turnstiles, the membership software, invoicing, email and camera monitoring. It is where any incident becomes visible immediately, so we treat it as a critical area: a stable network, supervised devices, backups and a direct support route.

  • Supervised, updated workstations with managed protection
  • Prioritised connectivity for payments, bookings and access
  • Backup of membership and invoicing data
  • Immediate remote support, with on-site visits when needed

Access and payments

Turnstiles, readers and card terminals depend on the network

Turnstiles, access readers, vending machines and the card terminals at reception, the bar or the shop come from different vendors, but they all run on the same infrastructure. We do not sell that equipment: we design and maintain the network, the segmentation and the connectivity they run on, and coordinate with each system's supplier.

  • A dedicated network segment for access control and for payments
  • Network points and power planned for each location
  • Coordination with the access control or POS provider
  • Monitoring of those devices' connectivity

Video surveillance

A sports facility has plenty of spaces to watch over

We install and manage IP video surveillance at entrances, reception, corridors, car parks, storage, the perimeter and communal areas, with remote viewing and recording as configured. Never in changing rooms, showers or any area of particular privacy. Camera placement, signage and image handling must comply with applicable regulation, and that validation rests with the club.

  • Entrances, reception, car park, storage and communal areas
  • Never changing rooms, showers or areas of particular privacy
  • Remote viewing and retention as configured and agreed
  • A separate network for cameras, away from member Wi-Fi

Cloud

Run the club without depending on a server behind reception

When the membership software, invoicing and documents live on a machine under the desk, any failure or theft becomes a serious problem. We assess moving applications, data and servers to cloud or a hybrid model, provided the technical requirements and vendor licensing allow it: we do not assume any software can simply be hosted.

  • Prior assessment of the management software with its vendor or partner
  • Access from reception, management or other sites under the same permissions
  • Resources that scale as activity grows or a new site opens
  • Less dependence on physical hardware inside the club

Multiple sites

A group of centres, one infrastructure

For gym chains and clubs with several sites, each location joins the same structure: the same users, the same network and security policies, the same monitoring and one inventory. Opening a new centre should not mean starting IT from scratch.

  • Centralised users, email and permissions across every site
  • Identical network and security policies at each location
  • A single view of lines, equipment and backup status
  • Support and billing through one point of contact

New facilities

The technology can be ready before the doors open

For an opening or a refurbishment we work from the project stage: where the rack goes, how the cabling runs, which line can actually be contracted at that address and with what lead time, how many access points are needed, and what must be provisioned for cameras, turnstiles and payment terminals. Joining late forces improvised fixes later.

  • Cabling, rack and network points planned during the works
  • Lines ordered well ahead of the opening date
  • Network, Wi-Fi, firewall and workstations configured before opening
  • Microsoft 365, backup and monitoring live from day one

Events and broadcasts

Tournaments and matches that are also played online

A tournament multiplies connected users, traffic and payment volume for a few days, sometimes alongside a broadcast with cameras, scoreboards and press. Streaming is mainly about upload bandwidth, latency and redundancy. We provide the connectivity and the network; audiovisual production belongs to its own specialist.

  • Capacity review ahead of the event date
  • Reinforcement or a temporary link depending on location and coverage
  • Upload bandwidth and priority for the broadcast
  • Network supervision throughout the competition days

Monitoring and backup

Don't wait for reception to tell you the Wi-Fi is down

We continuously watch the lines, firewall, switches, access points and servers covered by the service, and raise an alert when something degrades. In parallel we back up membership data, invoicing, files and Microsoft 365, with an off-site copy, agreed retention and restore testing. No monitoring catches absolutely everything, but it stops you hearing it from a member first.

  • Supervision of lines, network and managed equipment
  • Alerts on outages and degradation before the incident escalates
  • Backup of membership databases, invoicing and files
  • Independent Microsoft 365 copy and restore testing

People and access

Your staff are part of security too

Reception, admin, management, coaches and site supervisors share systems and turn over faster than in an office. Each person should reach only what they need, for as long as they need it: managed accounts, multi-factor authentication, role-based permissions and a clear onboarding and offboarding procedure.

  • Accounts and permissions by role, not shared between shifts
  • Multi-factor authentication on email and critical access
  • Onboarding and offboarding with access genuinely revoked
  • Endpoint protection and updates on every workstation

Example architecture

What a well-connected facility looks like

An illustrative example, not a real project: a club with a main building, four padel courts, a pool, a restaurant and a car park. Primary fibre plus an independent secondary link, a managed firewall, managed switches, indoor and outdoor access points, separate networks for staff, members, cameras and payments, cloud-hosted management, backup and continuous monitoring. Every real facility is sized after a site visit.

  • Primary line plus backup link with failover
  • Managed firewall and switches as the backbone
  • Wi-Fi coverage across building, courts and communal areas
  • Cloud, backup and monitoring across the whole estate

A single point of contact

From the independent gym to the multi-site chain

We also help independent gyms and clubs that want professional infrastructure without running an in-house IT department: we act as their external technology team. For chains and larger clubs with internal IT, we work as a specialist extension for connectivity, networks, cloud, backup, cybersecurity and datacenter.

  • Connectivity, network and Wi-Fi across the whole site
  • Workstations, Microsoft 365, users and day-to-day support
  • Cloud, backup and continuity in our own datacenter
  • Cybersecurity, video surveillance and monitoring across the estate

Frequently Asked Questions

Common industry FAQs

How can we get Wi-Fi across a whole sports hall or complex?

With a prior coverage survey and a professional network: several managed access points positioned according to how each area is actually used, hardware suited to indoor or outdoor conditions, and centralised management. Coverage is then tested on court before the installation is signed off.

How do we get internet to courts far from the main building?

It depends on distance, line of sight and what groundwork is possible. We use fibre between buildings, a point-to-point wireless link or a dedicated connection for that area, always integrating it into the same network.

Can we have member Wi-Fi separate from the staff network?

Yes, and it is the recommended setup. The member network is isolated from the corporate one, with its own bandwidth control and no access to management, payment or camera systems.

What happens if the fibre goes down?

A secondary link on a different route — radio or Starlink — can be contracted with automatic failover, so bookings, payments and access keep working. Absolute availability does not exist: the aim is that one fault does not stop everything.

Can you manage several gyms or sports centres?

Yes. We centralise users, email, network and security policies, backup and monitoring, so every site is run the same way through a single point of contact.

Can you install cameras?

Yes, IP video surveillance at entrances, reception, car parks, storage, the perimeter and communal areas, never in changing rooms or showers. Placement, signage and image handling must comply with applicable regulation, and that validation rests with the club.

Can you maintain the computers and systems at reception?

Yes, through managed services: preventive maintenance, user support, updates, endpoint protection, printing, Microsoft 365 and incident handling, remotely and on site when required.

Can you host our membership software in the cloud?

It depends on the application. We review its technical requirements, database, peripherals and licensing conditions with the vendor or its partner before proposing a migration. We do not promise universal compatibility.

Can we get temporary internet for a tournament?

It can be assessed based on location, available coverage and the capacity needed, either by reinforcing the existing line or adding a temporary link. It is worth raising well ahead of the event date.

Can you monitor the Wi-Fi and the connection?

Yes, across the equipment and lines included in the managed service: lines, firewall, switches, access points and servers. We get the alert when something drops or degrades, though no monitoring covers absolutely everything.
