Google and Oracle to bring TPUs to OCI from 2027

News summary

On 27 October, Google and Oracle announced an agreement to offer Google’s Tensor Processing Units through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The companies describe OCI as the first hyperscaler outside Google to offer these TPUs. The rollout is scheduled to begin in the 2027 calendar year.

Organisations already operating on OCI could gain another acceleration option for AI training and inference. This does not demonstrate that any application can be migrated without changes or that costs will be lower. Regional availability, software compatibility and the performance of each workload must be checked before choosing infrastructure.

What to review in your business

Include the option in your 2027 planning without assuming confirmed capacity in Spain or any specific European region. Request information on reservations and terms when it becomes available.

Compare a representative workload with your current infrastructure. Beyond execution time, consider code adaptation, storage, data transfer and support.
