Vulnerability Analysis

We find security gaps in your IT infrastructure before an attacker does. We perform an authorised scan and provide you with a prioritised action plan to mitigate risks.

  • Authorised and controlled scanning
  • Prioritisation based on real-world risk
  • Technical report and action plan
  • Proactive detection of weaknesses

What is a vulnerability analysis?

A vulnerability analysis is a systematic and largely automated process that examines your IT systems (servers, computers, networks, applications) for known security weaknesses. The goal is to create an inventory of vulnerabilities so your business can identify them, understand their risk level, and plan their remediation before they are exploited by an attacker.

Unlike a penetration test (pentest), which is an in-depth, manual exercise to actively exploit vulnerabilities, a vulnerability analysis focuses on breadth and detection. It is a 'cyber hygiene' practice, designed to be performed regularly to maintain an up-to-date view of your attack surface and infrastructure security posture.

Who it's for

Which businesses is this service for?

This service is essential for any organisation that manages its own on-premise or cloud IT infrastructure and wants to take a proactive approach to cybersecurity. It is particularly relevant for:

  • Businesses that need a clear, objective view of their exposure to cyber threats.
  • Organisations that handle sensitive data and want to minimise the risk of data breaches.
  • Companies that must demonstrate due diligence in cybersecurity to clients, auditors, or to comply with regulations.
  • IT teams that need to prioritise their patching and remediation efforts in a resource-constrained environment.

Scope of Service

What our vulnerability analysis includes

Our service is designed to deliver clear, actionable results.

  • Planning and defining the scope of the analysis (internal assets, external assets, etc.).
  • Execution of authorised scans using specialist tools.
  • Analysis and validation of results to eliminate false positives.
  • Classification and prioritisation of vulnerabilities according to their severity (CVSS) and business context.
  • Delivery of a detailed technical report for the IT team.
  • Development of a remediation plan with recommendations to mitigate each finding.
  • A results presentation session with our technical team to answer any questions.

Collaboration

A process with defined responsibilities

Collaboration between Seintec and your company is key to a successful analysis.

Seintec's Responsibilities

  • Conducting scans in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Analysing raw data and consolidating the findings.
  • Generating a clear report and remediation plan.
  • Advising on the criticality of vulnerabilities.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all information obtained.

Client's Responsibilities

  • Formally authorising the execution of the scans.
  • Providing a list of assets to be scanned.
  • Providing credentials for authenticated scans (where applicable).
  • Appointing a technical point of contact for coordination.
  • Implementing the recommended remediations (either internally or by contracting Seintec).

Our Value Proposition

Expert interpretation, not just an automated report

At Seintec, a vulnerability analysis is more than just delivering a tool's output. Our in-house technical team—the same experts who could be managing your infrastructure—interprets the findings. This comprehensive insight, backed by over 15 years of experience, allows us to distinguish between a theoretical risk and a real-world threat to your operations.

With a single, direct point of contact, the recommendations in the remediation plan are practical and contextualised. We do not outsource the analysis; our own staff conduct it and support you throughout the process, either remotely or with on-site visits as agreed.

Our 4-phase process

  1. 01

    1. Scope Definition

Together with you, we agree on the assets to be assessed (IPs, domains, servers), the schedules for scanning, and the type of analysis to be performed (external, internal, authenticated).

  2. 02

    2. Scan Execution

We launch the analyses in a safe and controlled manner using our tools, minimising any potential impact on the performance of your production systems.

  3. 03

    3. Analysis and Reporting

Our technical team reviews the raw results, eliminates false positives, and enriches the data to produce an easy-to-understand report and a prioritised action plan.

  4. 04

    4. Delivery and Follow-up

We present the findings to you in a meeting, explaining the main risks and proposed solutions. From there, we define the next steps or the frequency of future analyses.

Differences: Vulnerability Analysis vs. Penetration Testing

It is important not to confuse these two services. A vulnerability analysis is a periodic hygiene measure, whereas a penetration test is an in-depth, offensive security audit.

Differences: Vulnerability Analysis vs. Penetration Testing
CharacteristicVulnerability AnalysisPenetration Test (Pentest)
ObjectiveDiscovering and cataloguing known vulnerabilities (breadth).Exploiting vulnerabilities to assess the real-world impact of an attack (depth).

Frequently Asked Questions about Vulnerability Analysis

Can a vulnerability analysis affect my systems' performance?

We conduct scans in a controlled manner and, whenever possible, outside of peak production hours to minimise any impact. The security and stability of your operations are our priority throughout the entire process.

What is the difference between an external and an internal scan?

An external scan simulates an attacker's view from the internet, analysing publicly exposed services. An internal scan is performed from within your network and helps discover vulnerabilities that could be exploited by a threat that has already gained access, or by an internal actor.

Does Seintec handle the remediation?

The base service includes the report and the remediation plan. The solutions can be implemented by your own IT team, or you can contract our systems administration services for us to manage it, either under a maintenance agreement or as a separate project.

How often should I perform a vulnerability analysis?

The ideal frequency depends on how dynamic your environment is and your risk exposure. As a starting point, we recommend a quarterly analysis for most businesses, and monthly for critical infrastructure. The final frequency is defined in the service proposal.

Does this service help me comply with NIS2 regulations?

Yes. Regularly performing vulnerability analyses is one of the fundamental technical measures that contribute to the risk management required by regulations such as the NIS2 directive. It is a key step in identifying and managing your systems' weaknesses.

What do you need to perform an authenticated scan?

For an authenticated scan, we need read-only, low-privilege credentials so the tool can log into the systems. This provides a much more accurate view of vulnerabilities, such as missing software patches or insecure configurations that are not visible externally.
