Cohesity and Terraform: joint validation for rebuilding infrastructure and recovering data
HashiCorp validates the interoperability of Cohesity’s cloud rebuild capability with Terraform Self-Managed. Infrastructure configuration and data remain separate components of recovery.

News summary
Blocks & Files reported on 29 October that HashiCorp, part of IBM, had validated the interoperability of Cohesity Data Cloud’s cloud rebuild capability with Terraform Self-Managed. Terraform recreates the declared infrastructure configuration, while Cohesity backups provide usable application data. The news is this validation, not the original launch of cloud rebuild.
For businesses already using both platforms, the integration may facilitate a more consistent rebuild procedure. However, having infrastructure code does not mean having the necessary data, secrets or access. Interoperability validation alone does not establish the recovery time for a particular business either.

What to review in your business
Rehearse the recovery of a complete application: network, resources, permissions, secrets and data. Check the result from within the application, not just from the provider’s console.
Keep recovery tools and credentials accessible even if the primary environment fails. Check that the rebuilt configuration does not recreate an insecure exposure.
